The 2007 car was again an evolution of the 2006 platform. Major changes were made to the corners and rear end, with these major changes competition weight went from 508 in 2006 to 483 in 2007. Noticable changes were also made to the rear wing and dry-sump oil system. The team once again ran a high compression engine. In Detroit the car placed 47th, with a DNS for endurance due to an blown engine during autocross. The 44 car did however receive a first place award for the ASBE Body Design. Between competitions the engine was swapped over to a wet-sump system, however with only a few weeks of testing the team was unable to complete endurance in west due to a tripping breaker, the team still managed a 23rd place finish.

The 2006 car was an evolution of the 2005 platform, with minor changes being made to the chassis and suspension. Major improvements were made to the aerodynamic package, including the addition of a full undertray. The engine package was updated with the second generation dry sump oiling system and higher compression. 2006 was the first year for the FSAE West competition in San Bernardino, California. While the car struggled in Detroit due to mechanical failures, it drove to 9th place in California, posting the fastest raw time in endurance.

2005 saw the development of an entirely new platform. Goals for this new car were a lower center of gravity, improved ergonomics, and better system integration. The 4 car had many changes from the 12 car and featured many new designs including an aluminum rear substructure or 'rear box' to house the double reduction final drive setup. The rear box also housed the custom dry sump oil pump, another new component for 2005. Number 4 placed 9th out of 140 in the 2005 FSAE competition.

Elected officers were Mark Stirnemann as Team Leader, Kyle Sampson as Chief Engineer, Prem Midha as Business Manager, and Kevin Arl as Secretary. The four group leaders were Nic Langford as Manufacturing Group Leader, Valarie Boatman as Powertrain Group Leader, Ben Wright as Development Group Leader, and Andy Clawson as Body/Aero Group Leader.

Mechanical problems once again plagued this year's Formula SAE competition. After passing Tech., Tilt, Brake and Noise without any problems the competition was off to a good start. Unfortunately, due to rain only one heat of acceleration and skid pad was run. Scott Craig drove to a 19th place finish in skid pad while Eric Grelle landed 39th in acceleration. Our first lap in the autocross event yielded our first mechanical problem. Half-way through the first lap one of the front brake caliper mounts sheared off causing us to lock up a wheel. After a quick repair of the broken mount Mike Stock drove to a 64th finish with the injured car. During the endurance event, problems surfaced early when driver Doug Stroud felt the car losing power. He managed to hold the car through his 11 laps allowing Mike Stock to take the seat for the remaining 10. Unfortunately, the power loss was from a leaking fuel fitting which caused the car to run out of gas one lap into the remaining ten.

The UMR Formula SAE team was plagued by problems at the 2000 competition. The team still managed to place 50th out of 104 competing teams. The pictures below highlight some of the difficulties our team encountered during the course of competition. For the majority of the 2000 competition, it was cold, or raining, or both. On Wednesday was our technical inspection. It was here we discovered what a "continuous" roll hoop is defined as, when the technical inspectors determined that we couldn't have a weld in our main roll hoop. We had to weld a piece of tubing over the welded area to satisfy the inspectors.
