OFFICERS

TEAM LEADER - Matt Laurent

As Team Leader, Matt is responsible for all business in which the team engages. He creates and dissolves project group positions and appoints the leaders of those groups. He presides over the general team meetings and ensures that projects are completed on time and meet performance goals. Overall, he strives to develop the team as a whole by keeping morale high, developing new members with experienced members, and maintaining knowledge retention within the team year after year.

CHIEF ENGINEER - Nick Schweissguth

As Chief Engineer, Nick is responsible for all matters pertaining to the design and construction of the formula car. This includes reviewing all designs, materials, and specifications submitted by Group Leaders. The Chief Engineer is also responsible for submitting all design reviews, and structural equivalency forms for the competition.

BUSINESS MANAGER - David Conradi

As the Business Manager, David's responsibilites include team public relations, sponsorship proposals, raising money and all financial matters regarding the team. It is the duty of the business manager to propose a budget, and set up a business plan for the team to follow throughout the year.

As team secretary, Chris is responsible for keeping the role of members, recording meeting minutes, and all shipping and recieving.

ADVISORS

FACULTY ADVISOR - Dr. Hank Pernicka

Dr. Pernicka helps guide the Team from year to year to ensure that the Team is meeting their goals and setting high expectations. The advisor helps lobby for the Team within the University and provides moral and technical support when possible.

MANUFACTUREING ADVISOR - Joe Boze

As the manufacturing advisor, Mr. Boze is a professional machinist who advises the team in proper manufacturing techniques.

COMPOSITES MANUFACTURING GROUP LEADER - Bryce Whitworth

The composites manufacturing leaders are resposible for organizing their group members to fabricate all composite structures for the car.

DRIVETRAIN GROUP - Komal Choong

The drivetrain group is in charge of designing all drive train components from the crank shaft to the wheels. Inlcluding any custom transmission, drive sprockets, halfshafts, tripods, and tripod housings.

The electrical group is responsible for the design, build, and troubleshooting of the electrical system for the Formula SAE car.

ENGINE GROUP - Justin Andrews

The engine group is responsible for strategic planning of all engine related components with regard to establishment of test plans, validation of manifold design, research and selection of internal engine components, study of fluid and acoustic dynamics, as well as development of engine calibration.

COOLING GROUP - Derek Martin

The cooling group is responsible for designing, fabricating, testing, and maintaining the cooling system. This responsibility includes the radiator, air inlet and exit ducts, catch cans, water pump, and plumbing between these components.

MANUFACTUREING GROUP - Lance Kellner

Manufacturing group is in charge of making all non-composite components that are not outsourced. This includes the frame, control arms, uprights, halfshafts, and final machining of sprockets.

DRIVE DAY COORDINATOR - Joe Briggs

The drive day coordinator is in charge of maintaining older FSAE cars as well as ensuring the trailer, safety gear, and race equipment are prepared before each test day.

LEAD ENGINEERS

AERODYNAMICS ENGINEER - Bob Zhang

The aerodynamics group leader is responsible for designing and testing all aero-related components on the car. The group deals extensively with composites, wind tunnels, and computational fluid dynamics in the constant search for downforce.

The data acquisition engineer is responsible for installing the data system(s) on the car, analyzing the data, forming a test plan for the new car, and implementing setup changes.
